Julia McSherry has more than 25 years of experience in marketing communications and public relations in higher education, non-profits, conservation, and the private sector. Since moving from Louisiana to Colorado in 2006, she has been a communications consultant, working primarily with the University of Northern Colorado Foundation. Previously, she was assistant vice president for marketing and communications at Loyola University New Orleans where she was responsible for the development and implementation of the university’s first integrated marketing communications program. In the 1980s, she was a public information officer for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and editor of Louisiana Conservationist Magazine.


As a Colorado master gardener, she is a volunteer with the Weld County Extension Office and Colorado State University. She recently joined the board of the Wildland Awareness and Educational Institute, a Colorado non-profit organization founded to raise awareness of natural resources and outdoor recreation and to cultivate tomorrow's conservation leaders.


She is a writer/editor with publications in various magazines and newspapers and currently is working on two books of non-fiction. She is a serious student of dressage with her beautiful Hanoverian Passat.
